A LIST of areas most likely to win the Postcode Lottery in the UK has been revealed, and Warrington ranks high.

New research discovered by Gaming magazine 1337 Games analysed the total number of Postcode Lottery wins in each area in the UK for find out which postcodes were the luckiest.

The data, which was sourced from dividing the total number of wins by the number of postcode districts in each area, revealed the top postcode with the most likely wins in the UK was Preston.

Followed close second by Warrington and Blackpool came in third.

The Postcode Lottery launched in the UK in 2005. Players sign up with their postcodes and pay £12 per month to be automatically entered into all draws.

Each month, winning postcodes are chosen at random and all participants sharing the postcode split the prize.

Warrington was found to have 33.69 wins per postcode district on average, there are 16 in the area.

Just last year saw 18 neighbours win £31,250 each after a winning draw, with seven others winning £62,500 each.

Meanwhile the least likely areas were also revealed in the research, with the unluckiest postcode for winners being awarded to West Central London who have on average 0.56 wins per postcode district – only nine wins ever in total.

Emre Aksu, a spokesperson from 1337 Games commented on the outcome of the research, saying: “It’s not surprising that so many people take their chances with participating in the Postcode Lottery, with prizes of up to £500,000.

“The postcodes are chosen using a random algorithm, which is used to make the outcome unpredictable. However, it is interesting to see such a big difference in how often postcodes in certain districts are drawn.

“Postcode districts in Preston have had the highest number of average wins by far, while areas like East and West Central London have had significantly less.

“It is also interesting to see many of the luckiest areas being Northern, while many Southern areas are in the bottom ten. Whether it’s down to statistical probability, population demographics, or even just sheer chance, it is fascinating to see which postcodes are the luckiest.”
