A SHOPPING institution is preparing to celebrate a landmark in its Northwich history next month.
National favourite Marks and Spencer has been a major player in Northwich town centre for 100 years.
We hope customers come and join us to enjoy the celebrations as much as we plan to

It opened in 1908 with a Marks and Spencer Penny Bazaar at 21 High Street, now Meller Braggins.
Since then the food and clothing giant has gone from strength to strength.
In 1933 a new store with a Tudor-style front was built in Witton Street, where Clinton Cards is now.
The large branch extended back to Weaver Square through the units currently used by Greenwoods and Adams.
Then, in 1992, it relocated to its current home in Leicester Street, when former occupiers Sainsbury’s moved to Venables Road, and has been there ever since.
Celia Roberts, current store manager, said: “We are very excited to be celebrating our 100-year anniversary in Northwich, “Marks & Spencer has contributed to community life over the past 100 years and we have many loyal customers in the area.
“We hope they come and join us to enjoy the celebrations as much as we plan to.”
The store is holding a centenary celebration on September 13 when shoppers are invited to join staff for a whole host of fun.
Live music will fill the air throughout the day, face painters and a quiz will entertain children and adults can enjoy a complimentary glass of bucks fizz.
