THIRSTY Wolves fans refreshed themselves with free pints of tap water courtesy of United Utilities.
More than 1,000 rugby spectators stopped off at a water bar set up outside The Halliwell Jones Stadium last Sunday to promote the ‘Tap into Water’ campaign.
The bar was hooked up to the water mains supply chamber at the junction of Buckley Street and Winwick Road and pumped out cool drinking water to help fans quench their thirst.
Instead of handing out pint glasses, though, bar staff gave away 1,500 re-usable sports bottles filled with the water to encourage people to fill up their bottle with tap water.
Warrington Wolves pledged their support to the campaign earlier this month, which is also being backed by the Warrington Guardian.
Sue Woodhouse, United Utilities events manager, said: “The water bar was a great success and we were absolutely delighted with the overwhelming response we received. The bottles giveaway went down a treat and we pulled plentiful pints of United Utilities’ finest.
“We would like to say a big thank you to Warrington Wolves for helping us to organise this event and also to the Warrington Guardian for their continuing support of our campaign.”
