A FUNDRAISING event at Winwick Leisure Centre raised more than £1,000 for a charity helping blind children in India.

The charity, Little Blind People, was founded in the UK by four blind friends in 1988 and in the past two decades has carried out significant work with a residential music academy and training school for blind children, in Punjab, India.

Lakhbir and Baljit Kaur Gossal, of Garwood Close, Westbrook, organised the event last month for 120 people, which raised just under £1,400.

Mr Gossal said: “I would like to thank all those who attended and supported the event including the generous people of Warrington, who helped make this event an astounding success.”

There will be a formal presentation to the charity on Saturday, September 13 to Seetal Singh Sitara, founder member of Little Blind People.

Anyone wanting to attend should e-mail LAKH.GOS SAL@aintree.nhs.uk
