TRAFFORD’s GCSE students have achieved best ever examination results, according to initial unvalidated figures.
Early indications are that collectively the borough’s students will be the highest performing nationally.
Since 2005 more than 70 per cent of pupils have consistently secured five or more A* to C grades.
This year 80 per cent attained five A* to C grades, an increase of almost five per cent on last year’s figures.
The percentage of pupils gaining five A* to C grades including English and mathematics, at 64.6 per cent, shows an increase of 3.3 per cent compared to last year.
At least 50 per cent of pupils in every Trafford school attained five or more A* to C grades.
Executive councillor John Holden said: “Yet again Trafford students can be proud of their achievements. Getting better every year, our GCSE results should be welcomed and celebrated. I’d like to congratulate the pupils whose hard work has seen such outstanding results, but not forgetting the support and determination also of teachers, staff, school governors and parents throughout.
“We are committed to providing the best possible educational experiences for all pupils so they can achieve their individual potential. These and other results demonstrate that this commitment is working, with our students among the highest performing nationally.”
