NANTWICH could soon have a new teen Idol.
Gabrielle Smith, 14, is one performance away from making it through to the Grand National final of a major talent competition.
Having danced all her life, she only recently joined the street dancing academy based in Sandbach.
And it’s become a real passion, passing an exam with flying colours before now demonstrating her skills to a wider audience.
Idol 2008 is fast becoming THE music and dance competition for singers, vocal groups and now dancers and dance groups to enter. Over 10,000 applicants entered last year, making it the largest talent contest outside a certain ITV show.
The competition offers singers and dancers the opportunity to perform live in front of large audiences as well as the chance to win up to £25,000 in prizes if crowned the UK’s Idol 2008.
It’s billed as a great opportunity to develop performance skills and personal ability while latter stages provide a chance to impress the judges and guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry.
Dance winners will go on a UK tour and appear in the video for the vocal winner’s single.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Gabrielle.
She competes amongst other talented hopefuls at the regional finals held at Wulfrun hall, Civic Buildings, Wolverhampton on October 27.
