Halton Housing Trust is launching an affordable warmth campaign to help elderly residents.
Nick Atkin, chief executive, said: “It’s heartbreaking to think that some of our more vulnerable customers are sitting there shivering at home, afraid to turn the heat on because they are frightened that they will not be able to afford to pay the bill.
“We have developed a strategy to help our older and vulnerable customers stay out of fuel poverty because it’s these people who have been hit the hardest.”
The trust’s ‘Keeping The Heat On’ team will provide energy efficient advice to residents at special events at their three sheltered housing schemes in Runcorn and Widnes.
Practical tips will be given on how to economically heat and insulate their homes.
A winter warmth pack containing low energy light bulbs, a room thermometer, blanket, hot water bottle and information on where to get advice will be given out.
Trust customers concerned about the rising cost of heating their homes can call 0151 510 5204 for advice.
