MOVE over Tommy – a rival is in town to take the crown of Warrington’s karaoke king!

Last week the Warrington Guardian ran a story on legendary karaoke host Tommy Huen, the man behind the old T‘n’T restaurant on Thelwall Lane.

“If you ask who is the karaoke king of Warrington in a poll I bet I would come out on top.

David Oke

During a 15–year–spell Tommy hosted weekly karaoke nights above the Caledonia car showroom.

With guests including pop superstar Robbie Williams, Tommy’s nights were the talk of the town.

But David Oke from China Red in Stockton Heath says he is now Warrington’s true karaoke king - and he is willing to put his money where his mouth is!

The 28–year–old said: “If you ask who is the karaoke king of Warrington in a poll I bet I would come out on top.

“At 17 or 18 I was thrown into it – I used to go in and sing myself and a landlord threw me in at the deep end running the show. I just went from there.”

David has been hosting karaoke nights for 10 years and has been working five or six times a week at the Victoria buildings restaurant for four years.

He also plays music and makes announcements for Northwich Victoria Football Club and Manchester United Reserves.

And he says he has picked up Tommy’s mantle.

He said: “When I arrived in Stockton Heath he had just stopped doing his nights.

“But a lot of people come to me and say that my nights are the best.”

Who do you think is Warrington true karaoke king?

If you read the story properly, you'll find he's not using on Tommy T's name!

Tommy TNT - what a legend! I don't know who this new kid is but he's not a patch on Tommy, no matter how many times he gets people to vote for him!

I have voted for tommy, who truly did entertain most of warrington through out the 80's & 90's, i went to TNT's the very first week it opened and we went at least once a month there after, right up until he closed down. We had a large number of family parties, both our children had there 18th's and 21st there, we had several of our works parties there and we would still be using it now if he were there..... I have never been to the David oke one's but people i know have and they have all said it is not a patch on what tommy used to do....THE PROBLEM WITH HOLDING THIS SURVEY IS THAT MOST OF TOMMY'S CLIENTEL WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE AS THEY WOULD NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THE INTERNET OR MAY NOT EVEN OWN A COMPUTER... The majority will be the people who still purchase your paper every week - so to even things up (if you really care) please put a tear out ticket in the weekly paper and give us all a chance to vote that way.... I guarantee that Tommy would win if you did that
