Armed robbery in Stockton Heath

5:18pm Tuesday 2nd December 2008

TWO men armed with a crowbar and screwdriver robbed Bargain Booze in Stockton Heath yesterday afternoon.

Wearing dark clothes and scarves partially covering their faces, the robbers verbally threatened the cashier from the off license on Cawdor Street to open the two tills and also stole her purse before fleeing in a get–away car.

The screwdriver was left behind in the incident, which happened around 4.30pm.

A police spokesman said: “Verbal threats were made but no–one was hurt. The men ran out of the store with the cash tills and made off in a silver Corsa or Renault Clio.

“One of the men was wearing gloves. One man had old potted acne scars on his cheeks and both spoke with a Liverpool accent.”
