Big freeze causes pressure on ambulance service

THE Arctic conditions have led to a massive increase in the workload of ambulance crews today.
Across Greater Manchester, the service received 886 calls in the 15-hour period between midnight and 3pm.
The average number of calls over 24-hours is 1,000.
