Murder accused appears in court

A RISLEY prison officer accused of murdering his partner has appeared in court to deny the allegation.

Lee Lucas is alleged to have murdered 45-year-old Helen Lucas, who was found fatally injured with head and neck injuries, at their home in Park Road in Golborne on Saturday, September 20. She was declared dead at Wigan Infirmary shortly afterwards.

Thirty-five-year-old Lucas, who appeared via video link equipment from Doncaster prison, pleaded not guilty on Thursday at Liverpool Crown Court .

He was further remanded in custody by the Recorder of Liverpool, Judge Henry Globe, QC, to await his trial beginning March 16.
