WARRINGTON Wolves will not be focusing on their infamous May meeting with Castleford when they take to the field at The Jungle on Sunday.

In the worst night for the club since the opening of The Halliwell Jones Stadium, bottom club Castleford came from behind to seize a 36-28 away win and spell the end for long-serving boss Paul Cullen, who left by mutual consent just minutes after the match.

But Paul Wood says Wolves cannot afford to think in terms of revenge this weekend, when crucial points will be at stake as Jimmy Lowes’ men bid to clinch a home play-off tie.

Wood said: “We’re not really a team that is going to look back on the last time we played Castleford.

“What we need to do is just concentrate on what we’ll be doing against Cas, get some confidence in that game and learn a lesson from the Hull KR game. I think we’ll do okay.

“I don’t think we’re going to look at the last time we played Cas. I think that game’s irrelevant, it’s been and gone and we need to look forwards instead of backwards.

“Obviously they beat us last time and we want to win this game but we’re not going to take it personally that they beat us and use it as motivation or anything.

“I think we’ve got all the motivation we need and that’s to cement our place in the play-offs.

“We’ll be taking a lot of confidence into this game because we’ve been playing well in the last seven or eight weeks.

“Hopefully that will bring us home.”
