Wolves keen to avoid three in a row

2:00am Sunday 24th August 2008

WARRINGTON Wolves will be keen to avoid a third straight defeat at Castleford on Sunday as they bid to go into the play-offs with some momentum.

Wolves had won seven out of eight since Jimmy Lowes took over but have since lost to St Helens and Hull KR.

Defeat to Castleford would put a serious dent in the form Wolves have put together in the second half of the season, with just one regular season game remaning against Huddersfield on September 5.

But Paul Wood says the squad should not even contemplate losing.

Wood, who was sent off for fighting in a stormy encounter at The Jungle in 2006, said: “Going into the play-offs you want to be winning games and taking a lot of confidence in to the games, which would be ideal.

“But we don’t even contemplate losing. You can’t. If you do, there’s a good chance you’ll get beat.

“We’re just going to go into this game concentrating on what we want to do and get the defence right, which has improved a lot in the last couple of weeks.

“Hopefully we can take that into the Huddersfield game and then the play-offs.”
