INJURED England skipper Martin Gleeson says he will be fine for the World Cup in Australia, starting with the clash against Papua New Guinea in Townsville on October 25.

The Warrington Wolves centre limped out of the action at half-time in England's 74-0 romp against Wales at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster last night.

Gleeson told Warrington Guardian: "I've had an ongoing ankle problem for a while and I just twisted it in a tackle.

"It's nothing serious and we were leading by 42 points by then so there was no points carrying on.

"I just needed to make sure it is right for the World Cup.

"It was precautionary, I didn't want to aggravate it.

"I've been playing with the injury for half a year, since just before we went out to France the first time.

"It's something that I can keep playing with and it's just more of an annoyance than anything."
