Dementia specialist, Belong Warrington is shining a light on the contribution of the community’s people, neighbours and carers who always put others first as it sponsors this year’s Everyday Hero Award at the Warrington Guardian Inspiration Awards 2024.

The not-for-profit care operator in Latchford is supporting the accolade which recognises people who make a difference to the lives of those in their neighbourhood through their kindness and compassion – something which very much aligns with the organisation’s ethos, as Belong Warrington general manager, Barry Devine, explains: “We are delighted to be supporting this year’s awards.

"Every day we see our teams go above and beyond for our customers, and so championing local people who put the needs of others before their own is something we are proud to be involved with.”

Belong Warrington employs a workforce of over 140 people, who work to enrich the lives of older people who live in its care village, as well as the wider community.

The majority work in caring roles, such as nurses, team leaders, and support workers, while other key posts include the village’s experience and activity team, exercise specialists, cooks, bistro assistants and housekeepers.

Warrington community hub

Like all Belong villages across the region, Belong Warrington offers a range of care, housing and support options for older people, as well as extensive amenities in the village centre. These include a bistro, hair salon, exercise studio and function rooms, all of which are open to the public as well as to the Belong community.

People can choose to live independently in an apartment at the village or within supported 24-hour care households, with a maximum of 12 residents per household, offering a family atmosphere where customers can build meaningful relationships with Belong colleagues and other residents.

Modern open plan layouts are specially designed around the needs of people with dementia. The organisation is also a registered home care provider and supports people in its independent living apartments, as well as in the wider community, through the award-winning Belong at Home service.

Belong specialises in supporting people with dementia, with all colleagues from carers through to bistro team and housekeepers all trained in dementia awareness.

Free dementia support

Along with their family members, Belong customers can access a free Admiral Nurse service from its dementia specialist mental health nurses, who provide individualised support for those medically diagnosed with any form of dementia.

Employed in partnership with Dementia UK, the nurses are highly skilled in working with people with dementia and supporting others to find successful strategies to promote wellbeing.

Admiral Nurse appointments can also be accessed by the public via the village’s recently launched B’s Cafe. The monthly service offers carers the chance for support and respite whilst their loved ones enjoy a complimentary activity, such as music, art, exercise or live entertainment.
