ANIMALS at a farm belonging to a children’s charity have been killed after a ‘suspected trespassing’ incident.

Staff at The Children's Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) arrived at the site this morning to find that their two rabbits and eight of their guinea pigs had been ‘destroyed’.

As a result, the farm, which is located near Lymm, is left with just two guinea pigs, Flopsy and Mopsy, who are ‘extremely stressed’.

Outdoor infrastructures were also damaged in the incident which is believed to have included at least one large dog.

CAFT, which has been providing enriching experiences for children under 17 impacted by illness, disability, or social disadvantage since 1992, shared the devastating news in a Facebook post this afternoon.

Staff said there are many ‘very sad children’ who are already asking where the animals have gone.

The post reads: “Our animals are such a huge part of the joy created here at our farm for children whose lives are compromised by chronic illness, disability and disadvantage.”

The incident has been reported to Cheshire Police.

In the meantime, the charity said it would be grateful if anyone is able to help it replace the damaged infrastructure and its animals.

“Every small donation will make a difference,” the post continues.

“This year alone 21,000 children and their families will visit the farm, for fun time away from the challenges they are facing.

“Thank you for anything you can do to help us.”

Many people have taken to the comments to share their own devastation at the news.

One person said: "This makes me so sad, what a vile thing to happen. I really don’t understand how some peoples' mentality works."

Another said: "Makes my blood boil these people. There is nothing for miles for my child. The staff at CAFT go out of their way to make sure my son has a safe, fun experience like any other child has at a petting zoo. Absolutely shameful behaviour."

Anyone with information is asked to contact CAFT or police on 101.

Cheshire Police has been contacted for comment.
