FROM tomorrow, Super League players in the final year of their contracts will be free to speak to rivals about deals for next year and beyond.

As things stand, that remains the case for several members of the Warrington Wolves first team.

The club have moved to tie down some of their off-contract players, with full-back Matt Dufty and prop Joe Bullock among those to have committed their long-term futures to the club having entered their final years.

Talks are believed to be ongoing about new deals for several other players, with more members of Sam Burgess’ squad set to put pen-to-paper in the coming weeks.

However, there are a few players whose futures remain officially unclear at present.

Club captain Stefan Ratchford and scrum-half Josh Drinkwater are among them as are new recruits for 2024 Rodrick Tai, Max Wood and Wesley Bruines although the club have options to trigger one-year extensions for all three in their favour.

The same is true for youngsters Leon Hayes and Adam Holroyd, who have enjoyed sustained first-team breakthroughs this season although Hayes suffered what looks set to be a long-term ankle injury during Saturday’s defeat at Salford Red Devils – an update on the full extent of his injury is still being awaited.
